WNBA DFS Degenerate with Seth: June 8 (FREE)

The rankings for fantasy points and value are derived directly from my own fantasy WNBA projections. Roster players with solid value rankings and spend most if not all of your salary. I’m confident that lineups built using this method will be competitive in tournaments.

Alex is better known to fantasy players by his handle "Awesemo" from seeing him in every big tournament in the industry. Playing poker professionally from 2009-2015, he heard that daily fantasy was the next big game picking up steam, and he quickly saw the potential of the relatively new game. Growing his bankroll from 2015-2016, he made a big step in 2017 by claiming the #1 overall ranking on RotoGrinders for the year. After completing his primary objective, he was looking for what's next. Attending dozens of fantasy events, Alex realized that everyone was repeating the same story: wanting to be a great DFS player while holding down a full-time job. He realized that the resources available to fantasy players while great weren't enough to help hobbyists get to the level of competing with the top pros. Having met Tom Kennedy during the FanDuel Scottish Open, the two decided to take on the realm of fantasy content along with co-founder Eddie Lai. Alex creates his own projections for each sport he plays, publishing rankings derived directly from them updated for each major slate. He also writes strategy content for how to become a better DFS player in his Game Plan series. You can contact Alex by emailing support@awesemo.com.

WNBA DFS Degenerate: Should you play Brittney Griner? WNBA picks for June 9

WNBA DFS picks

Get excited! Today we have a five game WNBA slate. That is until DraftKings cancels it 30 minutes before lock again. Now a five game WNBA slate is different than these two or three game slates. We don’t have to take players in bad situations or areas we don’t feel comfortable with. You should like everyone in your lineup on these teams. For this slate, I’m going to break it down by players I like. This being a five game slate it is important to you guys to be in slack. We will probably get some injury news tomorrow. I will have expanded thoughts on some plays.

Stud Plays

Natasha Howard: All I should have to say is she plays against Chicago, Awesemo’s favorite team, which is the worst defensive team in the league. I will have probably two of Seattle in every line I build.

Tina Charles:  Not playing her against Cambage. Hard pass.

Elle Delle Donne: Great matchup. Way too cheap on FD where she is a cash game play. I also like her on DK. The only risk is the blow out. I hope people fade.

Alyssa Thomas and Jonquel Jones: I like both. Atlanta has been bad defensively this year.  The issue will be I like EDD and Howard more.

Candace Dupree: Against Griner, LOL pass.

Brittney Griner: I love Griner in GPPs. This is a great matchup. Indiana has no one that can stop her. Yes she has been horrible all year. The other reason I love her is everyone will pay up for Bonner, lowering her ownership.

Elizabeth Cambage: She started last game and probably would have played 25 minutes if not for the blow out. The last time she played the Liberty in New York she put up 95 fantasy points. (that is pretty good) Her price is down on FanDuel and DraftKings. I would play her in cash on both sites. I think she is 50% in GPPs. She is an interesting tournament fade because there are players to suck her usage.

Forwards

Asa Wilson: It’s hard for me to pay her price when she is going to be second banana on the road. However, I think she might also be 5% owned, and she can destroy in this matchup.

Alysha Clark: Her price on DK is way too cheap for a forward playing Chicago.

Mercedes Russell: I wanted to point out she will be popular because she got thirty minutes last game and started. Her increased minutes were due to Howard foul trouble. She is still a solid play on DK… cause Chicago.

Nia Coffey: Started last game for the Dream. If she were to start again I like her as a pivot off what I believe will be a chalky Russell. She might have gotten 30 minutes if not for the blow out.

LaToya Sanders: FanDuel has yet to adjust her price for Messeman being in Europe. She is a cash lock there. I think she is too expensive on DraftKings.

Dallas Forwards: Who the hell knows. Isabelle Harrison came out of nowhere last game to get 25 minutes while Azura Stevens only played four first half minutes.  This is a five game slate so I am partial to the full fade, but if forced to choose I would go Stevens for the upside.

Guards

Dewanna Bonner: She is the best guard play on the slate, not much more to say. If you can afford her you should play her. She is a forward at the guard position.

Jewel Lloyd: She is from Chicago. Chicago sucks at defense. You do the math.  WAY too cheap on FanDuel. On DraftKings I would try to get to Bonner.

Jordan Canada: Did I mention Seattle was playing Chicago?

Diamond DeShields: I have a feeling she is becoming a star. Minutes are secure. Seattle turns it over a bunch. I like her.

Tiffany Hayes: I want to say lock her in on FanDuel at $5100 but she has been so bad.  She revealed she is suffering from a lingering ankle injury too. I will probably play her but I am a glutton for punishment.

Renee Montgomery: She is $4200 on FanDuel, and she’ll play 30 minutes but man, Atlanta has been bad. I have no interest in her DK price but FanDuel. Atlanta has just been so bad. I think you have to throw recent history out the door though.

Alex Bentley: See Atlanta guards above.

Jasmine Thomas, Courtney Williams: I like them both in GPPs. Atlanta is up in tempo. Their defense has been awful and both won’t be owned.

Lelani Mitchell: She played 25 minutes last game at point guard, is basement price on FanDuel and facing Indiana. If you are punting a guard she is the play.

Brooke McCartney Williams: Started last game for Dallas and got 30 minutes. Her price is too inexpensive for a point guard getting thirty minutes.

Kelsey Plum: I put her in here because I love her and I would not feel right not having her in my lineups. I will play her but the upside is limited.

As I said I will probably have other thoughts in slack that I will share. It’s a big slate.

WNBA Showdown: Minnesota Lynx vs. LA Sparks

This game sucks, but I have to be honest it’s going to be a low scoring rock fight. The minutes for the Sparks guards are anybody’s guess.

Just a heads up, lock is at three today so there might be some overlay. Fowles is the top play for some reason Nneka is priced over her. This matchup is much tougher for Nneka than Fowles. I like Chiney better than Nneka in this game, but my favorite high-priced Spark is Chelsea Gray. You attack Minnesota with guards not forwards.

Collier is still under priced for her production and minutes, also she is at home I like rookies at home. Danielle Robinson is cheaper than Odyssey Sims who just had a big game, I don’t care Robinson is the stronger play Lexi Brown is probably the best value on Minnesota. Dantas is fine here as well, one idea for GPPs is to load up the Minnesota front court I would probably play two of the three in a lot of lines.

The Sparks guards: who the hell knows. Pratt started last game and Mabry came out of nowhere and got 25 minutes and shot well. She’s a rookie, so from a game theory angle the fade is probably the play here. To be fair she does have some pedigree though (hedge life). Wiese has secure minutes and is the min on FanDuel. I would just eat the chalk there because she is a more realistic fade on DraftKings. But even then, I’m more than likely going to play her. Pratt started last game and did not get back in after Mabrey went nuts, Pratt is a nice leverage play off a chalky Mabrey on this slate.

Studs ranked: Fowles > Gray > Chiney > Nneka

Value: Wiese, Brown, Pratt
